LAMINATING SUPPLIES

Roll laminating film for use with roll laminator Roll Laminating Film is laminating film that is used on a roll laminator. There are a few things you should consider when deciding on which laminating film is right for you.
  • Thickness: Laminating film is measured in mils. A mil is equal to 1/1000th of an inch. Standard film thicknesses are 1.2 mil, 1.5 mil, 1.7 mil, and 3 mil. The higher the number, the thicker, more rigid, and more expensive the film will be.
  • Type of film: Some films require a higher temperature to melt and stick to your projects. Some films have an adhesive that sticks better than others. In general, you want a film that does not require high heat (about 300 degrees) to laminate well. At SchoolLaminators.com, we only sell film that is high quality with a relatively low melting temperature (for CP: 210° - 230° and for PET: 250° - 275°).
  • Core size: The core is the cardboard tube that the laminating film is rolled on. Standard laminators require core sizes of 1" or 2-1/4". Be sure to check your roll laminator manual to find out what size you need. If you order from us, we will keep that on file for you.
  • Width: Most roll laminators are 25" or 27" wide. If your laminator is a 27" laminator, you can use a roll of film that is 27" wide or smaller. If your laminator is 25", you can use a roll of film that is 25" or smaller. Standard widths for roll laminating film are 9", 12", 18", 25", and 27".

Laminating Pouches Laminating Pouches are two pieces of laminating film put together that are sealed along one edge that are used with a pouch laminator. You simply place the item you want laminated in between the two pieces of film, place the pouch inside a carrier (a piece of heavy paper that is coated on the inside), and feed the carrier into the pouch laminator. Carriers are included with all pouches purchased from SchoolLaminators.com. There are two things to consider when purchasing laminating pouches:
  • Size: Laminating pouches come in standard sizes such as business card, credit card, school card, and letter size. Your laminating pouch should be larger than the item that you are laminating. We have a handy chart and template to help you decide which pouch size is right for you.
  • Thickness: Laminating pouches are measured in mils. A mil is equal to 1/1000th of an inch. Standard laminating pouch thicknesses are 3 mil, 5 mil, 7 mil and 10 mil. The larger the number, the thicker and more rigid your final product will be.

Xyron cartridges for Xyron laminators Xyron Cartridges are only for use in Xyron laminators. These cartridges already have the film loaded in them so all you need to do is pull the used cartridge out of your Xyron laminator and slide the new cartridge in and you are ready to laminate! There are several varieties of cartridges available such as laminate on both sides, laminate on one side and magnet on the other, and laminate on one side and adhesive on the other. These are great for making magnets and stickers out of photos. Check the size of your Xyron laminator to ensure you are getting the proper size.
